Think System. Think Optimisation
April 22, 2016

Grundfos is able to equip any application with a complete SP system to optimise performance and energy efficiency. An SP system combines:
A high-grade stainless steel SP pump
A dedicated MS/MMS motor
An electronic motor protection (MP204) or a frequency drive (CUE)
Monitoring (GRM)
Features & Benefits
A complete SP system offers the following features and benefits:
High energy efficiency
Reliable performance over its entire life time
Time-saving installation
Easy installation
Easy operate
Pump & motor protection
The components
All components in an SP system have been designed by Grundfos to work perfectly together. In addition to the 100% high-grade stainless steel SP pump a complete system consists of the following components below:
The motor
The corrosion resistant MS and MMS submersible motors have been specially developed for the SP range to match the best efficiency point of the pumps:
• Canned type MS motors – for 4″ and 6″ pumps from 0,37 kW to 30 kW
- Hermetically sealed
- Available in high-grade stainless steel in two variants: EN 1.4301/AISI 304 for drinking water and EN 1.4539/AISI 904L for aggressive water, e.g. seawater
• Rewindable type MMS motors – for 6″, 8″ and 10″ pumps from 5,5 kW to 250 kW
- Available in high-grade stainless steel in three variants: EN 1.4301/AISI 304 for drinking water, EN 1.4401/AISI 316 for brackish water and EN 1.4539/AISI 904L for aggressive water, e.g. seawater
• NEMA standard drive end on 4″, 6″ and 8″
Frequency drive (CUE)
Grundfos’ frequency drive (CUE) is designed for intelligent speed control of pumps:
• Adapts automatically to changes in the system
• Ensures constant pressure, constant flow, constant water level or constant temperature
• Efficient control protects pump, motor and electronics against stress and overload
• Reduces life cycle cost and CO2 emission through energy-efficient operation
• Soft start ensures long life and no water hammering
• Easy setting via intuitive start-up guide
• Easy connection to Grundfos Remote Management (GRM) and communication to SCADA systems
• Radio Frequency Interference filter ensures clear signal in domestic areas
Motor protection (MP204)
The electronic motor protection MP204 is ideal where a frequency drive is not installed:
• Protects pump motors against variations in power supply
• Stops the pump before dry-running to prevent damage
• Performs insolation resistance test before start of the motor
• Monitors parameters like temperature, overvoltage/undervoltage and power consumption
• Easy to install, easy to set up and easy to operate
• Easy to connect to Grundfos Remote Management (GRM)
• Compatible with any SCADA system via CIU
Monitoring (GRM)
Grundfos Remote Management (GRM) offers 24 hour remote monitoring of the system:
• Cost-effective monitoring and management of pump installations
• Full overview of operation, performance and trends
• Live monitoring, analysis and adjustments
• Monitoring of energy consumption
• Reduced need for onsite inspection
• Alarms and warnings as SMS/email
• Notification when service is due
